BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Easter season means Western New Yorkers flock en masse to Broadway Market in the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood.

Easter Sunday this year is on April 21, which gives plenty of time for vendors to set up and prepare for what's expected to be another busy year at the market.

"This is our eighth year here at the market," Rick Fickhesen, owner of Amherst-based Kissed by the Sun Spice Company, said. "This year we built a beautiful new stand that was devised last week. Then, there's obviously the ramping up in terms of inventory. It's a start-slow...but when it grows, it grows fast. You don't want to get caught flat-footed."

Laura Harford, the owner of Grape Country Soaps, which makes homemade soaps and bath products like bath bombs, was also among the vendors setting up shop and selling product already at Broadway Market.

"It's just so much fun," Harford said. "This place is historic. The atmosphere the moment you walk in the door. It's great."

One of her popular products is fun take on a full-body soap: Pierogi soap (seriously).

"It was because I was next to Paula's Pierogi's that it dawned on me several years back that 'Why don't I make a soap that's in the shape of a pierogi'. They're a scented vanilla, but no sauerkraut here."

More vendors are expected to showcase their products at Broadway Market as we get closer to Easter. The market is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31 is the Easter Festival Sneak Peek, where more vendors will be available to sell products.
