We're getting an early line on Christmas shopping numbers.  Data from Mastercard SpendingPulse shows that retail sales in the US rose 3.4% between November 1st and December 24th compared with last year.  That's behind last year's 5.1%.  Online sales rose at a faster pace, up 18.8% from last year.

The Albany Business Review reports that KeyBank N.A. is suing Monolith Solar for $6 million in unpaid loans and lease payments.  In the lawsuit, KeyBank says it is owed more than $4.8 million in interest and principal on promissory notes, more than $1 million in overdue lease payments and around $300,000 in legal fees.  KeyBank is the No. 2 deposit-holder in Western New York.


Frederick T. Zelasko, through his affiliated 4545 Shimerville LLC, has purchased a medical building at 1630 Maple Road in Amherst for a reported $1.95 million.

Five Star Bank parent Financial Institutions Inc. has hired W. Jack Plants II as senior vice president and corporate treasurer.  Five Star also announcing it has promoted Samuel Burruano Jr. to general counsel.
