The average cost for a gallon of unleaded gas in Western New York has dropped a penny to $2.60. The AAA notes that at this time last year, motorists were paying thirteen cents more per gallon.
According to Business First, Kaleida Health has filed plans to convert DeGraff Memorial Hospital's emergency department into a hospital-sponsored off-campus emergency department. In its filing with the state Department of Health, Kaleida says this off-campus emergency department will provide the same access to high-quality emergency medical services as a traditional one - and the DeGraff Memorial Campus would operate as a division of Kaleida. Inpatient services at DeGraff will end before January.
Also from Business First: Erie County Medical Center Corp. will soon have a Victims of Crime Advocacy and Recovery Program running. The new program will address the needs of crime victims and their families. It's funded by a $1.2 million, three-year grant from the state Office of Victim Services' Victim and Witness Assistance Grant Program, a federally funded initiative administered by the state.
Mattel Inc. has announced plans to use only recycled, recyclable or bio-based plastics materials in its products and packaging by 2030. A report in L.A. Biz states Mattel will start by debuting an environmentally sustainable version of its Fisher-Price Rock-a-Stack baby toy by June of next year.
