Gas Bump At the Pump

Not exactly a Christmas present for area motorists, as the AAA notes local gas prices jumped up five cents this past week.  It cost an average of $2.65 for a gallon of unleaded gas.  That current cost is just four cents lower than the cost for a gallon of unleaded at this time a year ago.

Local investment group Amherst-based Franken Holdings Inc. has bought a building at 564 Franklin Street from an affiliate of developer Nick Sinatra.  Business First reports the purchase price was $2.472 million.  Additionally, that building is where the Goo Goo Dolls record


Governor Andrew Cuomo is poised to sign a bill that would increase Niagara County's bed tax by 1 percent.  That tax would fund operations for the Discover Niagara Shuttle.  In turn, the service would expand its schedule to run from May to October - adding routes into Lockport.

In foreign market news: Asian shares were mostly lower today as investors await updates on the signing of a trade deal between the U.S. and China - and kept a wary eye on the situation with North Korea.
