Mattel has given its approval for a planned renovation of the Fisher-Price Inc. Team Center building in East Aurora. Now, the $4 million project needs some sales tax breaks from the ECIDA in order to move forward. Business First reports the renovations are tied into Mattel's plans to shift workers from its El Segundo, Calif., operations center and bring the "Thomas and Friends" and "Infant & Preschool Entertainment" brands to East Aurora. The ECIDA plans a public hearing on the request July 8th.
Empire State Development approved an $800,000 loan to Ellicott Development Company for its renovation project at 960 Busti Avenue. The former General Electric Co. warehouse now houses 18 apartments and is home base for David Homes and Siracuse Engineers.
Also from Business First, Marineland Canada has opened its Polar Splash attraction. Its 10 child-friendly water slides and 150 themed sprayers and jets are designed to resemble dolphins, sea lions, beluga whales, polar bears and walruses.
