Locally, motorists are seeing a decline at the pumps. The AAA reports the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area average for a gallon of unleaded gas has dropped two cents to $2.70. The price one month ago was five cents higher.
Moog, Inc. has expanded the price tag on its planned expansion. New equipment and extra space needed have ballooned the $32.6 million tag to $44.3 million. A public hearing on tax breaks comes before the ECIDA on October 10th, with the full board expected to vote on the revised plan October 23rd. Moog anticipates hiring at least 69 more workers.
In Upstate New York, the uninsured rate has fallen to 3.5 percent, the lowest ever recorded. That's according to a recently-released Univera Healthcare analysis of the U.S. Census Bureau's 2018 American Community Survey. The statewide uninsured rate dropped to 5.4 percent, while the national rate hovers around 8.9 percent. Univera says the local and state uninsured rates could be even lower, with thousands who are eligible for coverage not enrolling in such programs as Medicaid, Child Health Plus and Medicare.
