Former Sabres owner Tom Golisano is bringing a competing high speed internet service provider to the Buffalo area. According to Business First, Golisano's Greenlight Networks service involves laying fiber optic cables with high transmission speeds right to homes. Greenlight already serves Rochester and surrounding suburbs.
The University at Buffalo Center for Ingestive Behavior Research has awarded its first series of pilot grants. Three projects have been selected for the pilot grants. They all have the broader aim of understanding how obesity develops and what systems might be targeted to treat it.
The Center for Elder Law & Justice has been named as a grant recipient by the Garman Family Foundation Fund, administered by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo. The $50,000 grant will support transitional services for elder abuse victims, addressing the psychological, emotional, and social well-being of older adults who have experienced maltreatment, with the majority of the expected beneficiaries to be older women.
