The City of Lackawanna has introduced a temporary process to expedite the issuing of permits for outdoor seating and operations space to retail and restaurant businesses attempting to resume operations after the three month pause related to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The process requires submitting an application and space plan to the Lackawanna Code Enforcement Officer.  That will be reviewed by the Lackawanna Fire, Public Works, Public Safety, and Development departments before approval. The cost for a permit is $50.

UB School of Dental Medicine and university spinoff OptiMed Technology were awarded a $50,000 manufacturing grant from the Jeff Lawrence Innovation Fund to accelerate the development of their products to the market.  OptiMed Technology utilizes nanotechnology to develop toothpaste and 3D-printed denture materials that treat irreversible gum overgrowth and fungal infections.


Buffalo Distilling Company is looking to buy the building it leases as headquarters at 860 Seneca Street.  According to Business First, the company also intends to expand its operations with a revamped tap room.
