A research team led by UB is developing plans to 3D print safe, effective and reusable N95-like respirators. The team, which includes local manufacturers and 3D-printing enthusiasts, has submitted its work to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for emergency approval. If authorized, the device could help regional and national manufacturers produce respirators and help alleviate the worldwide shortage of personal protective equipment.
