Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Wegmans is making adjustments to its operations and store hours to allow for more streamlined restocking and cleaning efforts amidst the Coronavirus concerns.
The supermarket giant says it is temporarily changing the hours of its New York stores to "better serve our customers and communities". Stores will now operate between 6am and midnight.
Wegmans is also stepping up efforts to maintain sanitary standards within its stores, saying, "We continue to reinforce employee education regarding viral prevention and encouraging them to stay home when they don’t feel well."
Stores will have additional hand sanitizer stations located throughout stores as well as increased signage and providing reusable bag cleaning instructions.
Supplying stores is somewhat of a challenge and Wegman's is taking steps to ensure stores are stocked properly, saying: "Supply is limited and there are a number of pressures on the supply chain to keep up with demand. This, coupled with the high volume we’re seeing across all departments, is affecting what is available on our shelves. Know that we continue to receive shipments to our stores every day. Although we may not have every variety available, we are working hard to give our customers options in each category."
