BUFFALO (WBEN) - On Wednesday, West Side Community Services, in partnership with the Salvation Army and FeedMore WNY, is hosting a mobile food giveaway for the community.
"Right now, it looks like it's going to be every other week, but the details are still being worked out," said Kate Hilliman, Executive Director of West Side Community Services. "Possibly more frequently if the need is there, which I'm imagining it is."
In addition, the Buffalo Police Department will be at the site giving away Narcan kits, but the officers on scene weren't able to comment on the program. However, Hilliman believes it's a good idea.
"A lot of increases in opiate overdoses and opiate deaths - we're seeing that in the news," she said. "This is a really stressful time, so it's a really risky time for people who are in recovery."
