Hamburg, N.Y. (WBEN) - "I can clean the house now," quipped Lynne Dixon, the day after being defeated by incumbent Mark Poloncarz in the Erie County Executive's race.
"I ran a very respectable, honest, truthful campaign. And I have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. I'm very proud of my effort," said Dixon.
Never be afraid of the challenge, and never back away from something worth fighting for.Thank you so much for the support over the past 9 months! It's been an honor and privilege to be a candidate for Erie County Executive. pic.twitter.com/3ywXOMreIX

November 6, 2019 Susan Rose asked Dixon if she would think about running for public office again. "I would never rule anything out," she said. "This community is worth fighting for. In the days and weeks and months to come I will certainly think about my next move." She said it's important that people are in office and are running for office whose only concern is about people, not about power.
Turnout in Erie County was 35%, including early voting and election-day voting. Dixon admits that's disappointing. "We reach out, we run our campaigns, we knock on doors and go to events. We shake hands and run ads and hope it's enough to motivate people to vote. It's always difficult in an off-year to ignite voters, but it is what it is.
Dixon remains an Erie County Legislator until the end of December.
