Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Efforts to stop the spread of coronavirus have led the US and Canada to agree to shut down the border crossings to nonessential traffic. Just who will be allowed to cross the border may not be clear just yet.

This is a stronger declaration than a couple of days ago, where those who wanted to cross into Canada would have to subject themselves to a 14 day quarantine before returning to the US.

In addtion to health care, Berardi thinks others will get exemptions from the ban. "Workers, people with student visas and work permits, we're awaiting guidance. But we're thinking the government will allow them to go in and out of the United States as they've been pre-vetted and have to engage in essential employment, but this is premature as we await guidance from the White House," says Berardi, who adds stay tuned as there still needs a lot of clarification.
