East Amherst, N.Y. (WBEN) -  The Williamsville East Girls Varsity Soccer Team has forfeited the remainder of their season after violating the district code of conduct.

The code is signed by players and parents at the beginning of the season and it covers behavior outside of school.

The district did not go into detail - but Superintendent Scott Martzloff issued this statement:

The Williamsville East Girls Varsity Soccer Team is forfeiting the remainder of the 2019 season. Team members and their parents were informed by school officials during a private meeting held earlier this evening.

The decision comes after an internal investigation found that 13 team members violated the district's interscholastic athletic contract during a recent incident that took place off school property and outside of school hours.

"We regret the need to take this action but our investigation showed that a number of team members engaged in behavior that clearly violated the athletic contract." - Supt Scott Martzloff

13 members of the team were found to be in violation.  They were also suspended from school.

There were 21 members of the team, but not enough Junior Varsity players to move up to form a full team.
