(WBEN) A volunteer girls basketball coach at the YMCA has been arrested for soliciting sex with a minor.
Captain Jeff Rinaldo said 43-year old Francesco Maccarrone was arrested by Buffalo Police for disseminating indecent materials to a minor and endangering the welfare of a minor.
The police sex-offense detectives conducted a lengthy investigation and are asking anyone who has had inappropriate contact with him to contact the confidential tip or text line at 847-2255
A YMCA Spokesperson said a he "was volunteer and not a staff member" at the Southtowns branch on Southwestern BLVD.
The YMCA said they are currently investigating the situation.
They said all staff and volunteers go through rigorous background checks.
Pending the results of the investigation, Maccarrone will "not be allowed on any Y premises or to participate in any programs", according to the YMCA spokesperson.
