Washington DC (WBEN) - An emotional and serious David Bellavia emerged from the inner offices of the Pentagon Monday as he and members of his infantry division from the Iraq War walked into the briefing room to conduct a media roundtable.
As Bellavia answered questions from reporters on the day before he receives the Medal of Honor at The White House, Bellavia stated he always felt the greatest award of all was "coming home".

Bellavia says the process to be singled out is awkward, but he is grateful to receive the honor. "I am grateful attention can be given to what we accomplished in that year, more importantly, families who lost so many amazing men," says Bellavia. "Men we served with and knew and loved. It's not enough we honor the fact we lost people at war, but acknowledge to how they died and why they died. They died for us."
