Kentucky Derby 2020: Schedule, TV Info, and Race Odds

For only the third time in the history of the Kentucky Derby, it's being held outside of May. On September 5, the "most exciting two minutes in sports" will take place around four months later than we're used to. We won't see the usual packed stands, filled with ostentatious outfits and mint julep-sipping fans, but the race should still be as exciting as ever.

Though the Kentucky Derby usually acts as the first race in horse racing's Triple Crown, coronavirus disrupted the norm, and the Belmont Stakes kicked off the Triple Crown chase in June. The winner at Belmont, Tiz the Law, comes in as the heavy favorite to win and remain a legitimate contender for the Triple Crown.

Here's everything you need to know about the 2020 Kentucky Derby.

The Kentucky Derby will be held on Saturday, September 5. Post time is set for 7:01 p.m. ET. As has been the case over the past 145 years, the race will be held at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.
