Bills bring back Shaq Lawson on practice squad

This is Lawson's third stint with the Bills since being drafted by Buffalo in 2016

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550/WBEN) - Another familiar face is making a return to Western New York to help the Buffalo Bills on their final stretch run this season.

The Bills announced on Tuesday the signing of defensive end Shaq Lawson to the practice squad. This will be the third stint for the veteran pass rusher in Buffalo after being a former first-round pick of the team (19th overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Over six total years spent with the Bills, the 31-year-old has appeared in 81 games, earning 24 starts and putting up 152 total tackles, 33 tackles for loss, 54 quarterback hits, 21 sacks, 11 passes defended and six forced fumbles.

After playing his first four seasons in Buffalo, Lawson then left in free agency and spent a couple years split between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins before returning to the Bills for the 2022 and 2023 campaigns. He then played one game last season with the Carolina Panthers before being released in October 2024.

To make room for Lawson on the practice squad, the Bills have released defensive end Andre Jones Jr.
