Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills have exercised their fifth-year option on defensive tackle Ed Oliver's rookie contract, the team announced on Tuesday.
The move comes as no surprise after general manager Brandon Beane told the media last month they would be exercising the option.

As the ninth player selected overall in the 2019 NFL Draft and no Pro Bowl honors through his first three seasons, Oliver is guaranteed to make $10.753 million in 2023, all of which will count against the salary cap.
However, the Bills and Oliver could agree to a long-term extension before then, which could change that figure.
Oliver is scheduled to make $3.178 million in base salary in 2022 and count $6.260 million against the salary cap this year.
The University of Houston product had his best season as a pro last year, and just kept getting better and better as the year went on. In the end, he recorded 4.0 sacks on the season, but 3.5 of them came in the final three games when he was completely dominant, at times. He also had 12 total tackles, four tackles for loss, and six quarterback hits in those three games.
Oliver is now under contract for two more seasons.
