Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550/WBEN) - The Buffalo Bills continue to retain a number of players for the long-term this offseason with two more players receiving contract extensions on Saturday.
The Bills locked up a key piece to their defensive front, signing defensive end Greg Rousseau to a four-year contract extension. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reports the deal is worth $80 million, and includes $54 million of guaranteed money.
Rousseau led all Bills pass rushers with eight sacks in 2024, tying his career high that he set in 2022. Some of his highlights from the 2024 season include a three-sack performance in the home opener against the Arizona Cardinals that earned him AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The 24-year-old was Buffalo's first-round pick (30th overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft, and has been an anchor for the Bills in both the pass and run defense. Rousseau also finished with career-highs in quarterback hits (24), tackles for loss (16), 36 solo tackles, and three forced fumbles in 2024.
In his four seasons in Buffalo, Rousseau has played in 62 games and has led the team in sacks (25) since he was drafted out of the University of Miami.
The Bills have also signed long snapper Reid Ferguson to a four-year contract extension on Saturday. He was set to become a free agent once the new league year starts on Wednesday.
Ferguson is the longest tenured player on the Bills roster, having spent the last nine seasons in Orchard Park after signing with the team as a college free agent.
Rousseau and Ferguson join linebacker Terrel Bernard and wide receiver Khalil Shakir as players to receive four-year contract extensions by the Bills this offseason.
Among the notable Bills players still up for contract extensions this offseason include running back James Cook and cornerback Christian Benford.
The NFL's "legal tampering" period begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 10, while the official start of the new league year begins Wednesday, March 12.
