The Buffalo Bills have already lost assistant general manager Joe Schoen to the New York Giants, and they could also lose a coordinator in the process.
After the Giants officially announced Schoen as their new general manager on Friday, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reports both offensive Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier will interview for New York's head coaching vacancy.
Daboll and Frazier are not the only coaches the Giants are targeting. Team owner John Mara reportedly has reached out directly to former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores.
Flores, Daboll, and Frazier are also getting interest from multiple teams around the NFL.
Daboll specifically is the betting favorite for the Chicago Bears job and is one of the favorites in Miami.
If I'm Daboll, and have interest from multiple teams, which it sounds like he does, he'll have to decipher which job is the most appealing.
This could be Daboll's only opportunity at a head coaching job, so tying himself to a quarterback that can prevent him from being a flash in the can will be important.
I think the Bears job outranks the Giants, due to a high ceiling, athletic quarterback in Justin Fields already in place.
Daniel Jones has already received more starts than many get to prove they're a franchise quarterback and he hasn't done it. The one benefit of the Giants job is the flexibility to move off of Jones for your own guy.
Daboll has experience with Tua Tagovailoa when both were at Alabama, so maybe he ends up in Miami, but I think Fields outranks Tua as well.
Wherever Brian Daboll and Leslie Frazier end up in 2022, both men have earned enough clout to be hot coaching candidates in this head coach cycle.
