Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550/WBEN) - Former Bills wide receiver and Buffalo native, Mike Williams is reportedly on life support in a Tampa, Florida hospital, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

Stroud says the mother of Williams' 8-year-old daughter, Tierney Lyle, had visited Williams in the ICU at St. Joseph's Hospital, where he is mostly non-responsive.

Lyle told the Tampa Bay Times the 36-year-old was severely injured in a major construction accident last week in the Tampa area. She added the belief was to remove Williams from life support at some point, but that has yet to take place.

The graduate of Riverside High School in 2006, Williams went on to play his college football at Syracuse University, where he put up 2,044 receiving yards on 133 receptions and 20 touchdowns over three seasons with the Orange. That was good enough to make him a fourth-round pick (101st overall) of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2010 NFL Draft.

In his four seasons played in Tampa Bay, Williams reeled in 215 passes for 2,947 and 25 touchdowns. He also started in 52 of 54 games played with the Buccaneers between 2010 and 2013.

Williams' rookie season in 2010 saw him finish second in voting for the honor of AP Offensive Rookie of the Year with 65 receptions for 964 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Just one season after signing a massive six-year contract extension with the Buccaneers, Williams was traded to his hometown team in 2014, where he would only dress for nine games, catching eight passes for 142 yards and one touchdown.

After not playing the 2015 season, Williams attempted to continue his career in Kansas City with the Chiefs, but was cut shortly before the 2016 season.
