What does a 98-50 regular season record and eight more playoff wins along with seven straight years of making the NFL playoffs get you if you are Sean McDermott?
Fired.
Members of the Bills' Mafia say they are stunned, surprised and saddened by McDermott's firing, which came less than 48 hours after the Bills lost a 33-30 AFC Divisional playoff game against the Denver Broncos.
"Maybe it was the right time, I don't know," said Matthew Barton from the Town of Tonawanda.
Fans respected and love the way McDermott brought now only a winning culture to the Bills' locker room, but he also had teams that were high on integrity.
"I just can't believe it," said Julie, a self-described longtime Bills fan. "He did so much for the team and the city too."
Buffalo Bills General Manager, and now, President of Football Operations Brandon Beane said he is conducting a search for a new head coach.
In the meantime, fans are left scratching their heads wondering what went wrong and what got the much-beloved McDermott fired.
"It makes no sense whatsoever to me," said Christina from the Town of Tonawanda. "I wish they (the Bills) would explain it."
