Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Buffalo Bills suffered a significant blow to their secondary on Friday with the news that cornerback Tre'Davious White will miss the remainder of the 2021 season after suffering a torn ACL.
White suffered the injury to his left knee in Thursday night's 31-6 win over the New Orleans Saints on Thanksgiving. The injury occurred in the second quarter when White was defending a wide receiver and his knee buckled.
White went down to the field before being able to walk off under his own power. However, he was emotional as he walked off the field to the locker room, and he was eventually ruled out of the contest just before the third quarter.
The two-time Pro Bowl cornerback was having another stellar season in his fifth year with the Bills. The 26-year-old had started all 11 games to this point of the season, making 41 combined tackles, registering 0.5 sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception.
With White now out of the lineup for the rest of the 2021 campaign, the Bills will be forced to turn to Levi Wallace to go up against other teams' No. 1 wide receiving target. Wallace has struggled, at time, this season in coverage in his fourth year with the team.
On the opposite side of the field, it will likely be second-year cornerback Dane Jackson getting a majority of the reps opposite of Wallace. Jackson was Buffalo's seventh round pick out of Pittsburgh in 2020.
