Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550/WBEN) - The Buffalo Sabres have relieved Adam Mair of his responsibilities as director of player development. This nearly a month after he was arrested for allegedly violating Leandra's Law in New York State, and charged with DWI in Monroe County.
"Adam Mair is no longer employed as our director of player development. We wish him well," said the Sabres in a statement on Friday. "We will evaluate the best fit for that role moving forward. In the interim, the current player development staff will continue to handle the responsibilities of their positions."
The former Sabres winger was in Pittsford Town Court on Thursday, being arraigned on felony charges of driving while intoxicated and crashing his car with two minors in the back seat. The incident happened on Sept. 4.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Department claims Mair tested twice the legal limit.
The 46-year-old has served in his role as director of player development with the Sabres and Rochester Americans since the 2021-22 season. He has worked within the Sabres organization since the 2015-16 season after retiring from his playing days in 2012.
Mair also played a total of seven seasons for the Sabres, appearing in 498 games and scoring 35 goals and adding 70 assists for 105 points.
Buffalo has three members of the Player Development Department: Tim Kennedy, Zach Redmond and Seamus Kotyk.
