Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Buffalo Sabres' director of player development is facing a felony charge for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs with kids in the car.

Adam Mair is alleged of violating Leandra's Law in New York State after he was arrested and charged with DWI in Monroe County last week Thursday.

Authorities say Mair had three children in his car when he was involved in a crash in the Town of Pittsford. Deputies say the crash happened at Clover Street near Tobey Road at around 4:30 p.m.

Mair failed field sobriety tests at the scene, and initially refused to take a chemical breath exam, according to deputies. Mair later changed his mind and took the test, and deputies measured his blood alcohol content at two-and-a-half times the legal limit.

The 46-year-old has served in his role as director of player development with the Sabres and Rochester Americans since the 2021-22 season. He has worked within the Sabres organization since the 2015-16 season after retiring from his playing days in 2012.

The Sabres have issued the following statement:

"We are aware of the situation involving Adam Mair. He has been placed on administrative leave. We will have no further comment at this time."

Mair also played a total of seven seasons for the Sabres, appearing in 498 games and scoring 35 goals and adding 70 assists for 105 points.
