BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Buffalo Sabres were able to pick up a point, but an overtime allowed the Minnesota Wild to win 5-4 on Saturday afternoon at KeyBank Center.

Each team scored early in the first period thanks to a pass to the crease that was deflected past the respective goaltenders. Minneota opened up a 1-0 lead when Marcus Foligno was able to redirect a pass under Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. It was Foligno's third goal of the season.

Buffalo answered back less than a minute later when Ryan McLeod skated toward the front of the net and had a pass from Jack Quinn go off his skate and into the net. The puck was not kicked in and it was deemed a good goal.

Quinn and Zucker assisted on the goal that tied the game 1-1. Michael Kesslering and Foligno dropped their gloves as the goal was being scored. Each player was given a two-minute unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after the goal.

The Wild took the lead once again with a goal right before the end of the first period. Ryan Hartman was able to gain position at the side of the net and score from a pass by Quinn Hughes. Kirill Kaprizov and Hughes received the assists on the score. It gave Minnesota a 2-1 lead after a period.

The visitors extended their advantage to two goals, 3-1, thanks to a Tarasenko score just over a minute into the second period. The forward's ninth goal of the year was assisted by Jared Spurgeon and Danila Yurov.

A failed clear out of the defensive zone resulted in Buffalo being able to take advantage and get back within a goal. Mattias Samuelsson knocked the puck down at the blue line and sent it to the net. Peyton Krebs tipped the puck past Filip Gustavsson.

Buffalo would score again just over a minute later to tie the game at three midway through the second period. Quinn's 11th goal of the year came off of a rebound opportunity at the top of the crease.

Rasmus Dahlin and Zucker were credited with the assists on the game-tying goal. Krebs and Quinn's goals were scored 1:27 apart.

The Sabres first power play goal of the game gave the team their first lead of the afternoon. Alex Tuch was able to sneak a shot past Gustavsson on the short side for the 4-3 lead.

Less than a minute later Hughes was able to score and re-tie the game. The defenseman's fourth goal of the year made it 4-4 heading into the second intermission.

Neither team was able to score the go-ahead goal in the third period. Minnesota was credited with 10 shots on goal, compared to the Sabres' nine. The two teams went to overtime tied at four.

Mats Zuccarello scored less than two minutes into the extra period. His sixth goal of the season was scored just after a power play chance expired. Krebs was in the penalty box after being called for a hooking minor before the end of the third period.
