Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Sabres traded for a pair of defenders from the Winnipeg Jets early Friday ahead of the NHL's 3 p.m. trade deadline.

Buffalo sent forward Isak Rosen, defenseman Jacob Bryson and a pair of draft picks to Winnipeg for 6'7" defenseman Logan Stanley and veteran blueliner Luke Schenn, who's currently playing in his 18th NHL season.

The 27-year-old Stanley is having a career season, scoring 9 goals and adding 12 assists for a struggling Jets team. Schenn, 36, has played in 46 games for Winnipeg this season, scoring 1 goal with 6 assists.

The trade comes after a deal with the St. Louis Blues for defenseman Colton Parayko fell through Thursday when Parayko used his no-trade clause to veto the trade.

Buffalo is also adding forward Sam Carrick from the New York Rangers in exchange for 2026 3rd and 6th-round draft picks. Carrick gives the Sabres another option at center on the fourth line. The 34-year-old Carrick has 4 goals and 6 assists in 60 games for the Rangers this season.

Buffalo is currently tied with the Tampa Bay Lightning for first in the Atlantic Division after beating Pittsburgh 5-1 Thursday. The Sabres start a five game homestand Saturday against Nashville.
