Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - As post season hopes for the Buffalo Bills are looking brighter and brighter, a worst nightmare situation is developing for Bills fans.
The Bills are closing in on securing a playoff spot and possibly division title. That would mean at least one, if not two, playoff games at Bills Stadium. Under current Covid restrictions, no fans would be permitted in the stadium in Orchard Park.
Dr Joseph Chow, Medical Director at WNY Immediate Care was asked if he sees anything that would change that? "It's going to be a bit of a stretch," he said.
"Health care workers and high risk people are getting the vaccine in the coming weeks, and then they'll get the second dose in three to four weeks. So, you're potentially looking at 5 to 6 weeks from now. So maybe there is a possibility of some fans," Chow said. "But for the masses, just tell the Bills to do it again next year."
Bills radio color analyst Steve Tasker was asked about the potential of no fans in the stadium. "Yeah, it would only happen to Buffalo in a year when they [the Bills] get back to the playoffs, after not hosting a playoff game for 25 years. It seems like a very Western New York fate," he said.
Tasker did say that if the Bills continue to win out, there's a good chance that the Bills would not have just one playoff game, but two, in the wild card round and the divisional round. "Who knows, things could change by then," adding, "maybe we'll have health care workers and first responders in the stands for the Bills home playoff games.
The Bills can secure a playoff spot Monday night if the Cleveland Browns beat the Baltimore Ravens. But even if the Ravens win Monday night, the Bills can secure both a playoff spot and division title with a win Saturday at Denver.
