Pittsford, N.Y. (WBEN) - Welcome back to football, "Bills Mafia"!

The Buffalo Bills kicked off training camp on Wednesday at St. John Fisher University with several fans making the trek near and far to Pittsford to watch their favorite team return to football action.

Among those coming from quite a distance was 11-year-old Jesse, who traveled from Brooklyn to take in his first Bills training camp.

"I got my tickets very recently, kind of last minute. Since then, I've been super, super excited to see all the players, get to do the activities, and everything here," said Jesse with WBEN.

Another Bills fan making a long trek to the Rochester area on Wednesday for training camp was Caitlin Holbrook, who drove up from Washington, D.C. to share in the fun with fellow members of "Bills Mafia".

"It's really for the fans. It feels really special," said Holbrook in an interview with WBEN. "And also to be able to see [the players] as they're testing everything out; can't wait to see Keon Coleman and some of the new guys, and just seeing what the vibe is. I'm hoping for a fun, team atmosphere."

Among the furthest traveling Bills fans to Day 1 of training camp on Wednesday were brothers Messiah and Malachi Royal, who the trip to Buffalo from Louisiana with their dad for a second-straight year.

"Just came to watch the Bills dominate today," said Messiah with WBEN. "I hope they end up winning the championship. Just came down here to watch them train and stuff."

While some Bills fans from afar made the journey to Pittsford, many fans enjoyed the nice close to home feel of camp to watch their favorite players in action.

"I love that it's so close, it's nice and homey. And we're close to the guys, and we get to watch them," said Ellen from Greece.

For Mike and Jen Wolford of North Chili, training camp is always a great time of year to not only take their son to watch the Bills in action, but also visit their old stomping grounds.

"It's great to be back. We're alumni from the early 2000s of Fisher, so it's cool to see this all grown up. To see how the Bills have expanded this is great," said Mike Wolford with WBEN.

The Bills were on the practice field on Wednesday for around 90 minutes in their first session of camp. The team will return to action on both Thursday and Friday for practice at 9:45 a.m. ET.
