Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority has opened up applications for tenants for 405 new residential units at the new Commodore Perry Homes. The first residents will move into the apartments this summer with more moving in next year as construction continues. There's two income-based programs for future residents, one offering rent subsidies for 284 low-income residents with rent capped at 30% of their annual income. The reamaining apartments and townhomes are reserved for people who make 60% of the area's median income.
The Hamburg Farmers Market is launching a new Midweek Mini Farmers Market every Wednesday through August, beginning next week. The mini market will be located in Peace Park, which was the original site of the Hamburg Farmers Market 48 years ago.
This year's Junior Achievement of Western New York Bowl-A-Thon raised more than $200,000. The money will support financial literacy and work readiness programs in local schools.
