Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Catholic Charities of Buffalo raised $516,124 during their annual Hope Day fundraiser on Wednesday, breaking their previous record. Up to $111,000 in donations were matched by sponsors including OneBridge Benefits, EnergyMark, Tops, Independent Health and more. Catholic Charities has raised 52% of its $8.5 million fundraising goal for the year. The deadline to reach that goal is the end of June.
A kitchen that was built in 1875 at Buffalo's Richardson Olmsted Campus is set to undergo a $15 million renovation. The Lipsey Architecture Center, which is currently located at the Campus' Towers building, will move into the space. The non-profit celebrates the history of architecture in Buffalo.
Next Monday, March 24th marks the return of Healthy Options Restaurant Week in Western New York. Fourteen restaurants are participating, including The Cheesy Chick, Sto Lat Bar and Fresh Catch Poke. Free samples from the restaurants will be available Monday evening from 6-8 at Buffalo's Northland Workforce Training Center.
