Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Dion's Dreamers, the charity started by Dion Dawkins, and Peaceprints of WNY are hosting the "Shnowcase Your Future: Not Your Average Job Fair" hiring event October 6 at UB's Allen Hall. The job fair is specifically lending a helping hand to people who have been through the criminal justice system. In a statement, Dion said "The people coming aren't unlike me. I made a mistake once, but I was able to correct my path because of the prospect of a job." Attendees will be able to practice interviews, create resumes and take professional headshots, all in an effort to get back on the right track.
Buffalo-Niagara Honor Flight is hosting its sixth annual golf tournament Wednesday at Diamond Hawk. 148 golfers, many of whom are veterans themselves, are playing in the tournament that raises money for future trips to D.C. for WW2, Korea and Vietnam vets to see memorials to those wars.
Free admission to the Buffalo Zoo on the third Thursday of every month returns Thursday, September 17, sponsored by M&T Bank. You'll need to reserve your tickets online at mtb.com/ThirdThursdays. The program continues October 15, November 19 and December 17.
