Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The controversial Department of Homeland Security job fair is back on. The US Coast Guard base at 1 Fuhrmann Boulevard in Buffalo is hosting the event Tuesday and Wednesday from 9am-5pm. It was scheduled for the Buffalo Convention Center before being canceled by Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz late last week.
Local business leaders and entrepreneurs will gather at Getzville's Jewish Community Center at 2640 North Forest Road Wednesday from 5:30pm-8:30pm for a night of networking. Erie County Legislator Jeanne Vinal is hosting the event.
Gas prices in Buffalo rose 1 cent since last Monday to $4.22/gallon, according to AAA. Statewide, prices went up 5 cents to $4.21. The national average is down two cents from a week ago at $4.08. AAA says this will be the most expensive August at the pump since 2022.
