Duff's done with Elmwood for now

The pandemic has killed one downtown Buffalo project before it could take flight. Business First reports that Duff's has scrapped plans to move into the former Casa di Pizza location on Elmwood Avenue. Member of the franchise group Greg Duell citing numerous factors for the decision not to proceed - including shutdowns, restrictions and the delayed return of people to downtown offices.

Savarino Companies of Buffalo has been selected to develop a "Pocket Neighborhood" project along the Old Erie Canal in Canastota. The plan would incorporate a blend of housing, mixed-use commercial space and recreational opportunities on 2-1/2 acres of land.


Governor Andrew Cuomo yesterday announcing the award of $50.7 million in funding to enhance addiction services in the state.  Over $3 million was pegged for the Value Network Behavioral Health Care Collaborative Network, which serves the eight counties of Western New York.

Developer Doug Jemal is now entertaining thoughts of revitalizing the Central Terminal.  Business First says for now Jemal is just giving voice to his interest and has not formally met with Central Terminal Restoration Corp. officials.  The building can not be legally sold, but Jemal could be named as a designated developer.
