Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo's Northland Workforce Training Center is expecting a record number of graduates from their programs within the next few months and will hold a hiring event Wednesday from noon-4p.m. to celebrate. Thirty people are expected to graduate from Northland's CNC programs. More than 60 people are graduating from Alfred State's welding and electrical programs, as well as nearly 100 students from SUNY Erie programs at Northland. Calspan and Cellino Plumbing are two of the companies that will be on hand.

The third meeting of the Sumitomo Rubber Closure Task Force was held this morning in Tonawanda. Displaced workers and the future of the building were on the agenda.


The Comfort Inn The Pointe in Niagara Falls is turning a former nightclub into a magic theater. According to Buffalo Business First, the hotel is working with illusionist Leon Etienne to develop the theater. He'll also do in-residence magic shows. The $150,000 project is expected to open by late May.
