M&T Bank has helped more than 9,300 local businesses secure about $1.36 billion in funding through the Paycheck Protection Program. Some of the particulars from M&T loans - the average loan size was $145,631. More than 72 percent of the approvals were for loans less than $100,000. Approximately 97 percent were to companies with 100 or fewer people. In order to process the volume of requests, M&T expanded its SBA loan team from 20 to over 2,000 people after the PPP launched.
