Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Ann Flack, a nurse for 61 years at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, was honored by the hospital recently with a special retirement ceremony. Flack started working at Memorial at 16 as a dietary aide. CEO Joseph Ruffalo said Flack "embodies what it means to serve with heart and purpose," commending Flack her contributions to the hospital.

Two Buffalo restaurants have been named semifinalists for the prestigious 2025 James Beard Awards. Ryan Fernandez, who owns Southern Junction on Connecticut Street is up for Best Chef in New York State. He was nominated last year for Emerging Chef. For the third straight year Waxlight Bar à Vin on Chandler Street has been nominated for Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages.

Neighborhood Health Center has received Univera Healthcare's Health Equity Innovation Award. Money from the award will go towards Neighborhood's hypertension treatment program.

Research.com has named D'Youville University the best value college in Buffalo, followed by UB. The rankings are determined by 400 different metrics.
