Ontario Securities Commission brings battle with Buffalo Grand owner to Erie County

The Buffalo Grand Hotel has been closed since late 2021.

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Ontario Securities Commission is asking for a court order in Erie County as it looks to collect $15 million CAD owed by Buffalo Grand Hotel owner Harry Stinson to lenders tied to the hotel's redevelopment. Business First reports the initial ruling against Stinson came in 2023, stating the hotel owner failed to keep accurate records and engaged in unauthorized trading of securities, among other violations. Stinson has yet to pay any of that debt. The Buffalo Grand has been closed since 2021 and Stinson remains in a battle with the city over possession of the property.

NOCO is hosting a free Geothermal Heating and Cooling Seminar Wednesday night from 6pm-7pm at the Wilson Community Library at 265 Young Street in Wilson. Attendees will learn about how geothermal works and how it lowers home heating costs.


Spectrum Health and Human Services will host a night of music and remembrance Wednesday, August 26th at Veterans Memorial Park in West Seneca called Not One More: Stand Together to End Overdose. Sixteen local agencies will be there, including Crisis Services, Horizon Health Services, Kids Escaping Drugs and more. It's the 6th edition of the event.
