Gas prices show a small drop locally

Local gas prices have dropped by a about a penny from last week. The AAA reports it costs an average of $2.82 for a gallon of unleaded gas in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area. A year ago, the cost was $2.34 per gallon.

Uniland Development Co. has proposed to build a warehouse/light manufacturing center in Lackawanna's former Bethlehem Steel footprint.  According to Business First, groundbreaking for the 151,000-square-foot facility would come this summer, with a planned opening date of May 2022.  A public hearing on the project will be held next Monday, April 12th.


Also from Business First, discounted home goods, clothes and accessories retailer Gabe's will open its third area location near the Boulevard Mall in July.  The location will be next to buybuy Baby.

Robert M. Zak, recently retired president of Merchants Insurance Group, has been named the company's board of directors chairman.  In other news from the company, Christine Schmitt has been promoted to Executive Vice President & CFO.  Dan Bierbrauer is now Senior Vice President, Regional Operations and Sam LaDuca has been named Executive Vice President-Underwriting, Product Development, Actuarial, and Programs.
