Two suburban sites have landed new owners - one that had been in the works since last year and the other that just came together this spring.
Sold was the sprawling 2 million square foot former Sumitomo Rubber USA plant that was acquired by an affiliate of Taiwan-based auto parts manufacturer, HWA Fong, who paid $28 million for the property.
HWA Fong will be renovating the plant, using part of it for its own production and bringing in similar auto parts related firms to lease other portions of the Sheridan Drive complex.
HWA Fong may be employing as many as 500 people with the new Town of Tonawanda plant.
Sumitomo abruptly closed the plant in November 2004, putting 1,500 people out of work.
And, in Amherst, the Premier Place plaza on Transit Road sold for $20.8 million.
Premier Place NY L.P., an affiliate of DLC Management Corp., sold the plaza to HBM Properties of Miami.
The plaza is anchored by such tenants as Paula's Donuts, Harbor Freight and Premier Group.
With the DLC has sold the last of its local retail-based portfolio and also serves as HBM's entry into the regional marketplace.
