On the heels of three U.S. bank failures since March, local banks have suffered losses. Business says First KeyCorp - parent of KeyBank - has suffered the greatest short term losses. Share prices at Tuesday's market close were down to $9.70. That's down 13% from the price Monday morning and reflects a 47% drop since March 1st. M&T Bank Corp., Five Star Bank parent company Financial Institutions Inc. and Evans Bancorp. have all seen share prices fall of by more than 20% since the beginning of March. The exceptions: Bank of America Corp.and HSBC Holdings.
On May 23rd, the Scotch 'N Sirloin at Maple Road and North Bailey in Amherst will close for good. The owners telling Business First rising costs and a lack of staffing led to the decision to close the restaurant which had operated there for 54 years.
The Town of Amherst has bought an office building at 30 South Cayuga Road in Williamsville. Business First reports the purchase price was $1.1 million.
