Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The city’s longest continuously operated hotel has a few updates planned that could result in new tenants.

The Lenox Hotel is working on plans to convert its shuttered Lenox Grill restaurant/bar space into a spa and yoga studio next year. That’s in addition to new furniture and upgrades to rooms in January/February.

While the Lenox once offered 158 hotel rooms plus an eighth floor Skyview Room restaurant, the majority of rooms today are occupied by 116 market-rate apartments, with 23 hotel rooms available for rent.

The Park School of Buffalo, founded in 1912, announced Tuesday the public launch of the third and final phase of its Power of Park campaign, its comprehensive investment project that began in 2022.

Having successfully completed the first two phases of the campaign which saw improvements to its facilities and campus as well as security upgrades, Park now aims to raise more than $15 million to substantially enhance its endowment, expand its facilities, and support its long-term strategic plan, reinforcing its commitment to delivering high-quality college preparatory education grounded in its core values of academic rigor and positive peer culture.

Park has received the two largest gifts in the history of the school to launch this third phase.

A battery technology company started production at a new site in Cheektowaga this month.

Natrion, a young company based in Binghamton, began producing its flagship product, a separator material for rechargeable lithium batteries, at 575 Ludwig Avenue. It eventually will employ 19 people there.

Natrion was born out of Kosyakov’s material science research while studying at the University of Illinois. Kosyakov and co-founder, Thomas Rouffiac, secured pattens around battery solutions and began a journey to commercialize them.

They raised preliminary funding in 2020 and moved the business to Binghamton to grow it through the Koffman Southern Tier Incubator, a NYSERDA-certified Clean Energy Incubator. Now, Kosyakov has a team of investors, including Mark Cuban.
