NEW YORK (WBEN) - On Tuesday afternoon, Governor Cuomo made an announcement with a goal of "crushing" pockets or clusters of COVID-19 infections across New York State: the Cluster Action Initiative.
"When you see the cluster, you have to stop it at that point," Cuomo began. "What's our strategy? Crush the cluster and stop the spread."
Locations will be categorized either Red, Orange, or Yellow, based on proximity to the cluster, and the severity of the problem will determine the restrictions that area will then have to observe.
"You take the most dramatic action within the cluster itself, where you have the highest density of cases,"said Cuomo. "Understanding that the people in that cluster interface with the surrounding communities, take additional action in the communities surrounding the cluster, and then on a precautionary measure, take action in the communities that are outlining that area."
As of Tuesday afternoon, there are seven classified clusters across the state, none of them located in Western New York.
