“General Hospital” actress Kirsten Storms will be taking several weeks off from work in order to heal after a recent brain surgery.

The 37-year old soap star shared a series of videos on her Instagram story on Friday where she told her fans that she was on her way home from the hospital after getting brain surgery earlier in the week, reports People.

“So I've not really spoken about this much or at all actually. Less than 48 hours ago I had brain surgery, hence the neck brace, it was on the lower portion of my brain,” said Storms. She also shared that her friend and former costar Emme Rylan was going to take care of her “until I get to my at home nurse.”

Storms required the surgery to “remove a very large cyst that had split into two,” though the former Disney Channel star quickly noted that “what they had to drain and remove was not cancer.”

“I want to clarify that right now before the internet goes crazy wild with rumors about this. I had a very large cyst that had split into two and the doctor said it was like so full the pressure was very noticeable when they opened up my skull, sounds so weird,” she continued.

On Sunday afternoon, Storms posted a follow-up on her Instagram, writing that she had spent “the last few years having random health issues” but that she disregarded them, thinking that they were due to her age or that they were side effects to her medication.

However, after experiencing “severe neck pain” for several months, Storms went to get an MRI, where her doctor discovered “a rather large, very full of fluid, cyst that was attached to the lower portion of brain.”

Storms also joked that she now believes “the new plates in my brain will give me some sort of special ability. Fingers crossed I can suddenly knit a sweater in 1 day.”
