BUFFALO (WBEN) - With the unprecedented early voting turnout in Erie County, many were hoping that Election Day wouldn't produce lengthy lines, especially with the addition of Election Day polling sites compared to the 37 early voting sites.
However, in the morning hours on Tuesday, the county saw some uneven lines at various polling locations.
John and Constance Fiorella have been voting at Rizzo's for six years, as they waited about 45 minutes to cast their ballots.
"It was the most packed ever," said Constance. "It's always been like five minutes, in and out.
"The polling people were fantastic," she added, saying they had no problem waiting in line to vote. "They came out to make sure we were in the right lines...everything was great."
Elsewhere in the county...no line at all.
"Very easy experience," said Sharon Fischer, who was voting at Thomas Edison School in Tonawanda. "I was the only one in my district (in line)...and I live right across the street, so it makes it nice and easy to vote."
There were reports of a voting machine issue at Thomas Edison in the early morning hours; however, one of the site volunteers noted that they dusted the machine and it's back up to speed.
"I saw all of the lines on the news this morning and was amazed and very happy to see all of the people out voting," said Fischer. "This is the most important vote of my lifetime, and I'm in my 70's."
