BUFFALO (WBEN) - The pressure on Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign continues to build, even from many state Democrats, as women keep coming forward to accuse the governor of sexual harassment.
While the news cycle certainly has focused on Cuomo, State GOP Chair Nick Langworthy is calling out Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul because he wants to know "what she knew and when she knew it" regarding the now multiple perceived scandals Cuomo is involved with.
"The walls have to crumble here, and we need the truth," said Langworthy Wednesday morning in downtown Buffalo. "The governor is now under three major scandals, and everyone around him needs to answer questions as to what there role and responsibility was to those."
Langworthy accused Hochul of hiding from the press in recent weeks, and he believes that to be concerning due to the possibility of her stepping in as governor of Cuomo resigns or is removed.
"Any minute now (Cuomo) could decide this is too much and he's out, and then she's the governor," she said. "What role and responsibility has she had for any of the three dark clouds hanging over this administration?"
On Tuesday, a spokesperson for Hochul sent the following statement:
"With yesterday's announcement launching the independent investigation led by Joon H. Kim and Anne L. Clark, I am confident everyone's voice will be heard and taken seriously. I trust the inquiry to be completed as thoroughly and expeditiously as possible. New Yorkers should be confident that through this process they will soon learn the facts."
Langworthy went particularly hard after Cuomo over the nursing home scandal, and the Republican chair has been very clear in his stance that the governor needs to be impeached.
