Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) Thousands of people made their way downtown to cheer on the hometown hockey team at the free watch party.
Be Our Guest, Ltd., the management group that runs events at Canalside, told WBEN that about 10,000 people came out Tuesday night to watch Game 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs between the Buffalo Sabres and the Boston Bruins.
The watch parties open two hours before puck drop for each home playoff game. Two large screens are set up.
The event is free, but attendees must go through a security checkpoint at Marine Drive and Hanover Street or at Main and Perry streets.
Food trucks and beverage stations are also part of the event.
The next home playoff game is scheduled for Tuesday.
