18-year-old pleads guilty to attempted murder in Depew shooting

Depew, N.Y. (WBEN) - An 18-year-old from Depew has pleaded guilty to 2nd degree attempted murder, 1st and 2nd degree assault, and 2nd degree criminal possession of a weapon following a May shooting at D&L Plaza on Broadway in Depew.

The gunman, who was 17 at the time, shot a 20-year-old woman in the parking lot of a Dollar Tree the evening of Wednesday, May 7, 2025. He would flee the scene before being arrested later that night.

The Erie County DA's office says the shooter used an illegal gun. His name is not being released as he's been charged as an adolescent offender.

A temporary order of protection has been issued on behalf of the victim. The shooter is being held without bail at the Erie County Youth Services Center.
