Amherst, NY (WBEN) Amherst Police are currently investigating a injury crash on the 290 westbound near the 990.
Amherst Police say around 12:30pm, a gold 1994 Saturn was driving westbound in the left lane on the I290 West in the area of the I990. The Saturn crossed over the center lane and the right lane and struck a United Auto Towing tow truck that was parked on the shoulder of the roadway. The tow truck was on location to assist a driver that was disabled and off the roadway.
The driver of the Saturn suffered serious head, chest and abdomen injuries. He was transported to the Erie County Medical Center for treatment by Twin City Ambulance. No other people were injured during the crash. The driver has not been identified.
